Free for now. Who knows whether they are there legally or not. Seems like either the creator put them up, or the copyright has lapsed. Of course we wouldn’t want someone to accidentally see a movie someone feels they should have paid for, right? I mean, we wouldn’t want millionaires to be losing on a few cents, right? In any case, they are available at the IP I’m currently at. Where is that? Wouldn’t you like to know.
Let’s start with Teorema.
Pasolini was a complex figure. Communist, atheist, gay… which I love, but also veered too young in his predilections. He also often worked against the communist party of Italy and examined his own spirituality. In the end he was murdered for being this person so outwardly.
This was smack in the middle of his filmography. An interesting and definitely weird exploration politics, faith and sexuality.
Our next stop is We are the Strange. Basically everything you need to know is in the name. It is weird in the best possible ways.
Well, Amazing Digital Circus is a series, but the last two episodes were released as a movie, so here we are. Breaking the rules. A group of people are trapped in some kind of a simulation. They don’t remember their lives, but they still maintain their personalities as they are forced to participate in adventures by the ringmaster.
The House Is Black is a short, so you have less of an excuse to avoid watching it. In the early 60s, Forugh Farrokhzad went to a leper colony to document the humanity still evident in that isolated environment.
God Hates Shavon or Irish Catholic as its called in most markets where it has received a release of some kind, is a microbudgeted movie about all the stereotypes you associate with Catholicism. Is it fair? You tell me. I’m biased.
The Passion of Jean d’Arc should not require any kind of explanation. You have seen this movie. You have no excuses. There will be a quiz, so don’t lie about it.
This is the longest version I could find of The Hour of the Furnaces. There’s multiple ones cut into three parts, but it seems hard to find which ones you should combine to see the whole. This is just over 4 hours, but the movie I saw back in the day is longer. Now, is the difference in the formatting (which is possible) or did they cut something out? I didn’t bother to check. This is the version I’m pushing.
The movie itself is a defense of revolution. You need to fight for your rights and they lay this out beautifully.
Paris is Burning is a documentary on the ball culture of late 80s. The movie is queer people having fun on their own terms with regular reminders of why this is needed so badly.
Sorry, can’t share this. Age-gated and all that. Here’s the link.
Symbiopsychotaxiplasm: Take One takes documentaries to a new direction. They are supposedly having a casting event, but there is no movie and they are documenting all the ways people act in order to get into the movie.
I added Falling Leaves here to let you leave on a less sour note. A kid finds out that her sister is going to die when the leaves fall, so she attempts to fix it. This is a movie by Alice Guy, the original master of cinema who has just mostly been forgotten.
